Standards: students must be able to…

  1. Water, rocks, soil, and living organisms can be found on Earth's surface.
-examine soil; sort and describe the components.

Standards: students must be able to…

  1. Soil is formed from the weathering of rock by water and wind and from the decomposition of plant and animal remains. The properties of materials making up different soils determine the soil's properties and uses.
    -engage in composting (worm farms).
-use the naked eye, hand lens, and/or microscope to observe and classify soil components.
-pour a measured amount of water through different soil samples and compare a soil's ability to hold water with its composition.
